PHU KHAO YA ( Bald Mountain )

Just to the south of town. This is a mountain with no trees, It's very popular with locals. On the weekends this place is very busy. Rumour has it the the Japanese cut the trees and used this area as an airport in WW2 ( don't quote me). If you climb to the top you have great views of Ranong, the waterfalls and the islands.

In the monsoon it's very green, the dry season it goes brown. This place is always full of people at the weekends. Famlies come to have a picnic and fly kites etc... There are also food venders & cold beer.
